The Guisane valley runs gently from 1500m of altitude in Monetier down to 1200m in Briançon, some of the surrounding mountains in the Ecrins National Park peak at over 4000m.
Easily accessible from Italy via the Montegenèvre pass 15 minutes away, 1 ½ hours from Grenoble via the Lautaret pass and 2 1/2 hours from Marseille, the Brainçon area benefits from a Mediterranean climate in the summer– hot, dry and sunny.
Briançon has long been renowned for its pure unpolluted air and its altitude means there are no allergens, a perfect place to cleanse lungs while doing some sport!
The area boasts several major mountain passes, such as the Lautaret, the Galibier, the Granon or the Izoard, all of which are ideal terrain for mountain bike downhilling.
Wildlife and wildflowers abound in the area, the Queyras nature reserve and the Ecrins National Park allow many protected species to live and breed in peace. Animals such as chamois, ibex, marmots, golden eagles are often spotted during the rides through larch forests or dense rhododendrons.
One of our most legendary rides is the descent from the Galibier pass (2645m): After getting a lift to the top in our minibus we take the old Galibier road through mountain pastures with fantastic views of the glaciers of La Meije and Les Ecrins then we follow a narrow track through larch forests, and several mountain villages to La Salle Les Alps – a total descent of 20 unforgettable kilometres.
