Because of the general difficulty of the terrain in the Briançon area the School has concentrated its activities on downhill and free ride as opposed to cross country or rambling – disciplines requiring a greater level of fitness and technique.
The School enables everyone, from beginner to expert, to enjoy their mountain biking without the constraints imposed doing it on your own - of getting to the top of passes, choosing suitable routes, evaluating the technical difficulty of a ride you don’t know, physical fitness…. all in a relaxed good natured atmosphere.
Downhill and free ride need decent equipment to ensure safety and comfort. Bikes with full suspension and disc brakes are a minimum requirement; they are designed to bring a maximum of comfort, security and easy handling to riders.
The bikes used by the School in collaboration with Outland (in Chantemerle) are top of the range models from Commençal (Pizza power or Suprême) all from rental stock renewed every year and fulfilling tough downhill criteria: robustness, reliability, suspension flexibility and effectiveness of the disc brakes in all weather conditions.
For our easier rides we use the Commencal Combi.
All the bikes are fully serviced after every rental by a professional bicycle mechanic.
The School reinforces it’s commitment to safety by offering riders a downhill safety equipment pack including a full-face helmet, gloves and elbow and knee pads.
